Sony Absorbs..Sony Ericsson


The Japanese-Swedish joint venture created in early 2000 by two giants of the electronics and telecommunications comes to an end. According to a statement, Sony will absorb Sony-Ericsson.
After a decade of existence, the joint venture between Sony and Ericsson in 2001 and based in London is about to end. Sony Sony Ericsson will integrate and become the sole owner after a transaction involving the transfer of five patent families and 50% of the shares of Ericsson against 1.05 billion euros. The two companies announced the agreement on October 27 which should be finalized in January 2012, following regulatory approval. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Android smartphone will probably be the last major terminal designed by Sony Ericsson.
